Amino Acids and Blood Sugar: The Eight Lines on the Label

Quick answer

Amino acids and blood sugar is a topic where studies use grams while Payarmin's whole blend is 200 mg. Eight of its 22 blend lines are amino acids or close relatives, from L-glutamine to L-carnitine. Each can hold roughly 9 to 14 mg at most, and the sources we read give no blood sugar benefit at that size.

On the label01

Which amino acids are in Payarmin?

Eight blend lines are amino acids or close relatives, and all sit in the bottom half of the list.

The law orders blend ingredients by weight, from most to least (eCFR, 21 CFR 101.36). Place k can hold at most 200 divided by k mg. That gives the ceilings below.

Amino acid lines, their ceilings and what sources say

14thL-glutamine14 mgEvidence lacking for muscle gain; the page does not address blood sugar (MSKCC, Glutamine)
15thL-tyrosine13 mgWe did not find a source in our list
16thL-arginine12 mgA meta-analysis found no benefit on diabetes markers, except perhaps in a select group (MSKCC, Arginine)
17thBeta-alanine11 mgStudied for exercise at 4 to 6 g a day (ISSN, Beta-alanine position stand)
19thGABA10 mgEvidence for calming effects limited; blood sugar not assessed (Boonstra 2015, GABA review)
20thL-ornithine10 mgWe did not find a source in our list
21stL-tryptophan9 mgGeneral principles only (IOM/NAP, Supplemental amino acids)
22ndL-carnitine9 mgTrials used 0.25 to 4 g a day (NIH ODS, Carnitine)

The size gap02

Do the amounts match the research?

No. The studies we read use grams, and these lines hold milligrams.

Beta-alanine studies gave 4 to 6 g a day, which is 4,000 to 6,000 mg (ISSN, Beta-alanine position stand). Payarmin's beta-alanine line holds at most about 11 mg in a serving. That is under 0.3 percent of the low study dose, by our arithmetic.

The L-carnitine meta-analysis found lower fasting glucose and HbA1c at 0.25 to 4 g a day, and still said more trials are needed (NIH ODS, Carnitine). The ceiling of 9 mg is far below that range.

Safety03

Are single amino acid supplements safe?

An older expert panel advised caution about single amino acid supplements.

The 1994 IOM panel found no evidence that a healthy person benefits nutritionally from one, and could not set a safe upper level (IOM/NAP, Supplemental amino acids). That is an old source and a general principle. It does not say any Payarmin line is unsafe at label amounts.

FAQ04

Amino acid questions

Is L-arginine linked to blood sugar?

MSKCC reports a meta-analysis of cardiovascular, obesity and diabetes markers that found no benefit, except perhaps in a select group of patients. It also notes arginine may add to blood pressure drugs. Payarmin's arginine amount is not printed.

Why does tryptophan carry a warning history?

A 1989 outbreak of eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome affected people taking L-tryptophan supplements. The IOM report says the cause is believed to be a contaminant from one producer, not tryptophan itself. It is old context, not a claim about Payarmin.

Can amino acids give energy?

The sources we read do not show that for these lines. Beta-alanine studies concern exercise performance, and glutamine evidence for muscle is lacking. Payarmin's front label uses an energy claim marked with an asterisk, which FDA has not evaluated.

What does the tingling from beta-alanine mean?

ISSN calls paresthesia, a tingling of the face and hands, the best-known side effect, mostly at single intakes above 800 mg. It reports no evidence the tingling is harmful. Payarmin's line is far below that size.
